Since our inception, we have been building a unified communications (UC) platform focused on optimizing our customer's connectivity. Overtime, we have done our best to figure out what communications means to our clients. With thousands of development man hours and some bumps along the way, we believe we have gained a clear understanding of unified communications and have translated that in our latest offering.

We have seen many proprietary products which all use the term unified communications. This has always seemed like some kind of marketing buzzword, so we thought more to listen to our customers to figure out what it really means to them. Also along this way, starting with our exposure to Asterisk, and integrating with many other open source projects like the Dojo toolkit and Dovecot IMAP server, we have seen the value that a good community brings to open source software. Open source takes many people across the world and brings them together to develop great software.

Now it hit us. Why don't we take this term unified communications and use open source to finally figure out what it really means? Let our users and developers have a say. Instant messaging, user portal, and mobile software. All these important features we have already started, and now we want the community to help take these ahead.

Many of our customers have already experienced our Plug-and-Play phone and hardware detection and autoconfiguration, extension mobility, and other UC features I mentioned before. These customers from various airlines, universities and governments opted for us over major industry brands and swear by us. Now, the open source community can experience these benefits as well.

As with all open source projects, things are never finished. Other features like complete shared-line support, faxing support and click-to-call plugin integration for Pidgin IM client, will be a part of our next update (coming very soon).
